In Block B of Hangzhou New City Square there is an elderly couple. To make them feel the warmth of the building as a big family, the customer service staff and the steward of Binjiang Property visit the couple regularly every week, chatting with them, sharing stories in their life, reminiscing about their old days, and helping them do some daily housework.

The steward often visits to help this elderly couple with their daily life, including cleaning the house, picking up packages, fixing computer problems, and having video calls with their children. Besides, the property management staff would always contact the hospital for them as soon as possible when they are in need of urgent medical attention. Such pairing with empty nesters and elderly people living alone has been carried out in the New City Square for many years. Currently, there are more than a dozen elderly people living in the building. But they are all reassured and relieved because they know they will never be alone.

It has been over one year since Binjiang Property’ attempt to launch the “Ginkgo Service” plan for the elderly in the late autumn of 2022. One after another, the scenes of creating “the most beautiful sunset” flash before our eyes. The front-line property management staff deeply understand the significance of care and companionship for the elderly and provide help for the elderly in various aspects from real life to spiritual comfort. What they are fulfilling is not only a property management service but also a sense of social responsibility and mission.

In mid-October this year, in the South Area of Jinhua The Rainbow, a proprietor in Building 3 had just finished renovating her home which needed to be ventilated before moving in. The steward Mao Shuqin once visited the proprietor and learned that the proprietor was unable to come to the residential quarter recently as she had to take care of an elderly family member with uremia. Upon learning of this, Mao spontaneously helped the proprietor with house ventilation and formaldehyde removal for more than a month. In addition. Mao also helped sort out and deliver the large packages to the proprietor’s home and did the basic cleaning work for the proprietor. When the proprietor returned, she was very moved to see the situation in her home and truly felt the efforts made by Steward Mao to reduce her burden and his sincere concern for her.

Love is always bidirectional. The proprietor always thinks of the steward, supporting his property management work and bringing him some homegrown vegetables and fruits.

When elderly proprietors are in need, the property management should respond immediately and, more importantly, dig into the situation and provide extended services to ensure that the elderly proprietors are without further worries.

This autumn, an elderly female proprietor in Binjiang Golden Landing in Jinhua bought a wooden bed but had difficulty in transporting it. Learning of such a situation, the steward contacted the order director promptly to help the proprietor carry the bed.

After the bed was carefully carried to the grandma’s home by order team members, the order director learned that the grandma lived alone and that her children were working in different places. So, he immediately contacted a skilled engineer to install the wooden bed, providing the best possible service for the grandma. Before leaving, the order director also asked the grandma to take care of herself and to keep warm and reduce outdoor activities as the weather turned cold.

As to front-line Binjiang Property staff, helping the elderly is a traditional virtue of society, demonstrating the positive energy of property management staff and promoting the construction of civilized residential quarters.

In early November, an elderly proprietor living alone came to the reception of Yiwu Xiujin and asked for help to repair the misfunctioning computer. After the preliminary of the steward who found himself unable to fix the problem, the engineering director was found to help find the cause of the failure. Upon careful inspection, it turned out that the failure was caused by aging parts. The engineering director bought the necessary parts and repaired the computer for the elderly proprietor for free that afternoon. Before the engineering director left, the elderly proprietor held his hand tightly and said multiple thanks to the property management staff.

As the old saying tells us to honor the aged of other families as we honor our own, with the intensification of social aging, the front-line Binjiang Property staff are deeply aware of the importance and urgency of serving and caring for the elderly. As a part of the elderly group, the empty-nest elderly living alone in particular need more warm care and love from property management workers.

Binjiang Property’s “Ginkgo Service” plan for the elderly encourages the property management staff to be paired with empty-nest elderly living alone to regularly visit the elderly, help solve daily difficulties and seek medical attention for the elderly, guide the elderly to live a smart life, and carry out community activities suitable for the elderly, so as to improve the quality of life and satisfy the cultural needs of the elderly and enhance neighborhood interaction and, ultimately, realize a community where the elderly are well cared for, supported, entertained, and engaged.
